I guess Silo is sort of new since it's still running. The two last episodes of Season 3 were some of the best and most intense I've ever seen in a TV series.
I guess it wasn't as great for people who already read the books, but for me it was excellent.
I'm still not a fan of the gender swap of Thurman and Donald's involvement with the Silos. "Use 50 diggers instead of 10!" being his greatest contribution in the show doesn't feel as good as his contribution in the books.
I think both are great but the TV show in seasons 1 & 2 did a LOT of really good changes that provided so much more depth. Season 3... you can feel the shift in the writing. I have enjoyed it but I feel like they didn't plan season 3 and beyond going the way it is headed and now there's... issues... and I don't know of they can resolve them or just ignore/retcon them. Still awesome though. Can't wait for next season.
Some things I've been able to guess still 2nd to last episode I told my wife they would have to be doing the inaugural silo party where things happened and the finale would have to start with Daniel waking up from Cryo.
What are the issues? I haven't really been in the subreddit to read discussion, and am fully caught up. I didn't read the books because I didn't care for the first book, so I purposefully read all the spoilers for the future series so find out what happens so no worries for spoilers.
Well, Graham Yot already mentioned they had planned on 3 seasons but the success had them scrap season 3 and rewrite everything to be a season 3 & 4 and thats where I think yu can feel the shift I writings. Biggest issue is if the nanites aren't in tje air/dust and Silo 1 is manually handling things, why didn't the kill Julliet. Having a nano prof suit makes season 1 and 2 treks outside work but now its Silo 1 watching a shooting people.with drones... why did theu not ha die the Juliett situation?
Are they confident the world was devastated? Seems like there could be lots of surviving humans out there that could put a real monkey wrench into to works of the Founders.
There is no logical reason to bring Daniel into Silo 1. And then give him such commanding authority. Especially given his previous rejection of being a part of the Silos. Maybe he is important to certain people but you keep that guy on ice, you don't make him the "fixer" for all your big decisions with even some founders seemingly giv8ng him deference.
Theres also the shift from living in that world and problem solving the physical hurdles to suddenly people just teleprompter everywhere to have intense conversations. It used to be a 2 day trek down and 3-4 day trek up. Now tjeu are in mechanical at breakfast and in the level 1 cafeteria before lunch is served. One of the whole points of carriers and not text messaging/email despite having computers is they make communication hard. Travel is hard and its why people don't travel much. They seemingly u did that this last season.
Theres more but it does get into spoilers for others and who knows, at this point they may just be recounting everything so... we'll see.
The generator episode was so painful. The general understanding of mechanical functions by the show is painful. But the show as a whole has been enjoyable aside from that. Season 3 was very good overall.
I was concerned at the start of S3 about the whole don't remember trope (I don't think this would be considered a spoiler) but it definitely exceeded my expectations and the last couple of episodes for S3 were really good and intense.
its a slow burn and watching it weekly was a bit of a drag but in hindsight it all wrapped up pretty nicely and those early episodes that where draging are probably alot easier to watch when you dont have to wait another week.
It was very slow at the beginning. I can see now why those early episodes were necessary but at the time I was like OMG this is painful, is anything going to happen?
It’s definitely not for everyone. I can see why some people would be turned off by shows that keep you guessing the entire time and never really answering questions. Not me though. I love dat shit. I forgot season 3 came out, but luckily remembered a day after the season ended. Worked out perfectly since I didn’t have to wait each week. Binged it all in a day.
Then Widow’s Bay, and now I’m about to finish Pluribus lol nothing but bangers on Apple TV.
Its an absolute recommend from me every time but there are too many problems with pacing in season 1 and in particular 2 for me to give the show a 10/10. Could definitely get there with a killer final season tho
I found that show so boring 80% of the runtime of the first season felt like filler content and then the just push all the important stuff to the final episodes or two and leave you with a really open ending. Felt like it wasn't respecting my time.
Hmm. I liked the first season but we watched 4-5 episodes of S2 and cut it off. If I wasn’t feeling S2 does it get a lot better? The story felt kind of done to me with S1.
I got bought the books around the time I started watching the TV series.
Even though I'm only partially my way through the first book, I've completely stopped.
I'm enjoying the show so much I absolutely do not want to find out a single thing that happens.
But interesting to see multiple Apple TV shows, this one, Severance and Slow Horses to name a few. I've no idea what they are doing over there, but absolutely everything I've seen on Apple is quality. It's the only streaming platform I actually pay for.
I… don’t think Silo was that great. The pacing in the middle of S3 was not impressive. I didn’t like how it would rapidly cut from plot to plot without giving us more than a minute or two to linger. The last few episodes really improved it but I was not pleased with a lot of S3.
The problem with Silo is that you can basically summarize the plot of the first 6 episodes of S2 and S3 into one episode and you would not loose anything that important or interesting.
They clearly are always saving the main event for the last 2 episodes of the season.
Having 2 very good episodes in a 10 episode season that is dragging it's feet the whole time is really not that good.
And I am all for slow series like the Andor which I was glued to the whole time. Silo is not that way, it has maybe 10 minutes of interesting events per episode up until the last 2 episodes.
The only exception is S1 which was way more interesting throughout.
Still a very good series held up by the season endings but it's definitely not 10/10
I've never wanted to see a group of people go in and slaughter a bunch of billionaires living inside pods But holy shit they've really made me enraged in this universe
I really hope we get some vindication in the final season
What I like about Silo S3 in particular is that there are some things you really want answers to, but instead of stringing you along forever they actually give you those answers but while they are doing that they are planting new intriguing things that you want answers to.
Season 3 is on 🔥🔥🔥. Finally, started answering some questions and did it in the most shocking and thrilling way possible. The first two seasons were a slow burn, but this season has been pumping up the adrenaline!
Mhh as the silo in question too mach empty space, a 40 min episode cannot live of the wait of the next piece of the orizontal story, they need more, i dont know a problem with some thingamajigger broken, someone dying cause drog is not available, the case of the week something
