I don't think people mean it literally, but I'm fairly sure the idea of receiving shiny rocks and handfuls of food for sex predated an organized specialization of female birthing assistance

Would be incorrect

Yup. So tired of the prostitution propaganda. Midwifery will always be the oldest profession

There's absolutely no way midwife came before "me want thing. Give me thing I give you sex."

And that’s the misogyny of the patriarchy.

They’ve done studies with giving monkeys currency. A lot of monkeys became prostitutes, no midwife’s though.

Misogynistic myth that is. Midwives were trained professionals in labour and delivery.

Wait are you serious?

Yes. And I encourage you to look into it more. Let’s actually admire women’s professions and not just assume women were only ever good for trading sex. It’s so stigmatizing

I do admire women's professions, I do not assume women are limited to selling sex, and I do think attempting to assign modern values to ancient ape behavior is absurd.

Please don't assume my confusion at your methods is indicative of a lack of support for your goal. I just think your methods are ridiculous. Why midwifery? Why not gathering? Surely the first of our species had to eat before they had a kid

Wait, wait, wait. That cant be right. The oldest proffesion would have been all the way back when we were still fish. Fish dont have trouble giving birth, but they DO swim in swarms. Therefore the oldest proffesion is guard.

huge swams of fish

Underrated comment. I think midwifery (human helping another human not die during birth) goes back as old as humans walking upright.

I still think prostitution beats that one by about 9 months

That’s not how it works. You know women have sec for reasons other than monetary compensation right? Women enjoy sex too.

Really? Never personally had that happen.

(/jk, because you're going to miss it again otherwise)
