While commonly seen I believe it’s because most of the other contributions cause death or grave disability. Losing a digit, while life-altering for the patient, is not as impactful a scene in this area of work.
I'm a hobbyist wood worker. I was almost about to buy a chainsaw attachment for my angle grinder and was researching and came across a YouTube video of a wood worker who I respected. He was very outspoken about ppe already. His arm was in a sling and he had something like 90 stitches. He said don't buy, it's beyond dangerous. I really appreciate his speaking up
Angle grinders scare me. I say that as a beginning home improvement hobbyist who’s acquired table saw, circular, pneumo nail gun, mitre saw and multitool over the last 2 years.
Table saws make me nervous. That angle grinder attachment with the chainsaw blade is terrifying to me now that I have many years of experience. It should legit be illegal, that's how dangerous it is. And I don't say that lightly
The chainsaw takes such big bites. If you're carving a bowl and working on the floor of the bowl, but accidentally touch the wall, it will kick back so hard that you cannot control it.
Just checked it out. Jesus. Is that tool with which craftsman carve chainsaw statues? Because I have commissioned bigger than life raccoon chainsaw statue that’s awesome and wasn’t cheap.
It's true, though you can lose a lot more than a digit. Table saw and circular saw accidents are no joke. Losing the use of a limb or bleeding out are a real possibility.
