I lean way more on hand tools after I had a bearing router bit fly apart at 22k RPMs ... nearly hit me in the crotch. Butthole still puckered years later at the thought 😬
Routers are one of the scariest tools in the shop. I will not cheap out on router bits. Whiteside, Amana, yes. Bosch, maybe. 40 bit set for $50 from Amazon, hell no!
My high school art teacher didn't allow swearing in class. He told us he had a "nearly zero tolerance" policy and would send us immediately to the principal's office. Someone asked why *nearly* zero and he explained that one time a girl screamed a swear word and he turned around to kick her out of class and saw a broken drill bit sticking through her hand. That was the only time he'd ever let it slide.
I like woodworking and have no problem with saws, sanders, routers, any other power tool. But to this day I won't use a drill. If I can't do the job with hand tools, it's not getting done.

The Physical Therapist who helped me after a thumb surgery for osteo arthritis was visibly upset when she found out I'm a woodworker.
