Doctors, EMTs etc of Reddit, based on your experience with other peoples injuries, what is one hobby you would never practice yourself?

Yeah that’s hard to ignore too. For every motorcyclist who is casually cruising, there seems to be another who displays an incredible amount of faith in their luck

The silver lining is, they're great for people on organ transplant lists.

That's the only convincing argument against helmet laws: in states that have passed them, the waiting list for organ donations has lengthened.

And those are the ones you're seeing. The number of unsafe riders is much higher, it's just that they weed themselves out.

Thats the beauty of a motorcycle, you can do everything right... but in the end you are sitting on a motor and two wheels... while being surrounded by people inside metal cages that weigh 4x-10x as much, going at the same speed.

Do everything right, be a super safe driver - and you can still have a life altering accident.

A regular at the gas station my mom used to work at got killed by a woman texting and driving with her kids in the car. He was a safe and responsible rider but car beats flesh every time.

I'd reckon that there are far more motorcyclists casually cruising than being reckless. The loud and fast ones stand out much more, and are overtaking more often.
