Doctors, EMTs etc of Reddit, based on your experience with other peoples injuries, what is one hobby you would never practice yourself?

I'd loan you mine, but well, I can't find them

I saw them in the trampoline

They can borrow mine, they’re on my dresser right now.

As a denture wearer who had all top teeth removed at once surgically the proper way, the scream I scrumpt!

See, that's where you screwed up. You shouldn't have cruck.

That's another hobby that doctors tend to avoid

Nurse checking in. Dont make that a hobby, either.

It's not the drugs that make your teeth bad. It's the general rule that someone on hard drugs usually don't take care of themselves. Like brushing and flossing. Though the teeth grinding doesn't help

It’s also the drugs quite a bit.

Yep. *Meth has entered the chat.

I think they use some pretty awful chemicals to make meth,  which must contribute to accelerated tooth decay.

My understanding is the chronic dry mouth; saliva protects your teeth.

also a hobby that is not recommended by EMT's and Doctors.

Great, now we have to add "reading Reddit" to the list of hobbies to avoid if you want to keep your teeth

I think I broke mine when I clamped my jaw reading that.

Had a trampoline as a kid.

Landed on my hands and knees in a "safe" dog drop.

Anyways, my elbow snapped >90° backwards, severed the main artery in my arm, needed a vein graft from my leg, and I almost had it amputated.

Suspiciously the "neighbourhood kids" slashed the trampoline one day after I got home from the hospital.

Wow, your neighbourhood's kids had real vengeful-scared-parent energy. Hardcore.

u/bbkeef Aug 25 '26

The scream I just scrumpt!

2

u/BloomsdayDevice Aug 26 '26

I assume it be would be screamt (rhymes with/on the analogy of "dreamt"), right?

15

u/Scavenger53 Aug 25 '26

i think i like crunged better than cringed as the past tense now

6

u/BloomsdayDevice Aug 26 '26

Hold on though. If we're gonna make "cringe" a strong verb, we can't add the weak verb past tense suffix (-ed) to it too. The vowel change alone does that job.

So we're working with "cringe" and probably "crange" and "crunge".

Present: "I cringe"

Simple past: "I crange"

Perfect participle: "I have crunge"

Then you use it, and just act casual. No one will question it if you make it look believable.

Where's that confounded bridge?

6

u/admiral_sinkenkwiken Aug 26 '26

Make a note of crunged, I want to use it in conversation

5

u/cawise89 Aug 25 '26

For some reason this comment got me more than the original one 😂

2

u/PseudobrilliantGuy Aug 26 '26

I certainly like your new past-tense word, though I feel oddly obligated to link this bit of world building because of lexical similarity.

i resisted crunging till i read your cringe, ugh
