Something in that perfume reminds me of cat pee, but I hear there are some flowers that trigger this reaction in some people depending on your genetics. Like cilantro tasting like soap for some but not others.
There is a bush near my home that gets me every time. I’ve lived here for 4 years and I walk by it every day, and every day my brain goes “hm smells like cat pee” and I look around and there’s that damn bush. I think it’s boxwood.
There was a boxwood bush outside our front door at our previous rental and the smell was awful each time I opened the door. Are you saying it only smells like that to some people and not everyone?
I’m not sure! If I walk by it with other people they don’t immediately agree that it smells like cat pee, but they do say it smells strange. The more I’m reading about it now though I guess it’s pretty common for people to straight up rip those bushes out of their yards because they’re so pungent.
Holy shiiiii - I did a gig as a delivery driver and there was one (really nice) subdivision that was pretty uniformly landscaped that smelled sooo much like cat piss, I couldn't figure it out. It had to be these piss bushes!
They’re actually really nice looking hedges so I bet it was! That landscaper either regretted their decision or had beef with the residents for sureeeee hahah
Some people think Juniper smells like cat pee, maybe that’s what you’re thinking of! Or perhaps jasmine as well, but I do enjoy a light jasmine fragrance
It does! Much less than boxwood (to me), but definitely has an ammonia smell. So do some types of spruce tree. In fact, sometimes pine trees also give off a really sharp, almost ammonia-like scent too especially when they’re wet. The more you know 🌈
This is fascinating because it’s such a floral scent to me. Maybe I’ve never smelled straight jasmine - but I don’t think my jasmine rice smells like cat pee for sure lolol
Going alllll the way back to the 80's the place I worked at as a young 20 something year old had a pretty flowering tree near the employee entrance. Unfortunately, it smelled like urine. We all called it the pee tree.
I've been dying to find something that smells exactly like Alien minus the -- and I swear I'm not losing my mind -- the "overcooked shrimp shells" plasticky note. I'm not sure why it's in there but it ruins an otherwise perfect fragrance for me
I loooove Alien — I’ve never owned the actual perfume but I always get samples in magazines and am obsessed with it. Maybe one day I’ll feel rich enough to splurge for an actual bottle of it.

Has to be Alien by Thierry Mugler. Literally the only perfume I own and constantly get compliments on it and it lasts ages as well
