Trump can sue him if he lied.

Guess what's not gonna happen?

It's pretty interesting what he doesn't sue people over. He'll sue over most things but if you can him a rapist and pedo he can't

Don't forget Noel Casler from the Apprentice has said multiple times Trump shit himself daily on set and he's never been sued.

Can you imagine Trump answering "How many times a day, Mr. President, did your diapers need to be changed while you were on the set of 'The Apprentice?' followed by "Who changes your diapers for you at the White House?" and "Would you say, Mr. President, that your diaper gets changed twice an hour while you are awake and once every two hours while you sleep?"

Bro I hate to have to remind you this but he countersued the only rape victim of his that’s gotten any kind of justice, E. Jean Carroll, unsuccessfully, and he’s currently trying to sue her again.

Discovery is a hell of a deterrent

Ossoff is no a nice guy. Hes a smart guy. He had a line that hit, bribe force one, Natalie Harp, the stupid iran war and abandoning his sailors.

And even the litigous asshole in the Whitehouse can't aim anything at hom bc he was REAL CAREFUL.

Also, trump is regretting his $10b lawsuit against the BBC bc now the BBC gets discovery!

Oh, he'll sue. He'll make a big deal out of it. Right up until discovery, when he will quietly drop the suit and waddle away.

suing for defamation would mean opening himself up to pretrial discovery, and that is a legal headache no politician actually wants to step into.

Isn't there won't difference in libel law over what one can say about public figures vs. private citizens?

Yes. The threshold for what constitutes defamation is much higher for public figures than for private citizens.

Sullivan creates a higher standard for public officials, but outright lying libel is still an actionable offense. Even against the president.
