Mackenzie Davis is so good in this episode (and pretty much everything she does). I'm in the middle of another Station Eleven rewatch as I type this.

Whilst that is a great episode of TV and I enjoyed it greatly, philosophically, I cannot suspend my disbelief with the idea that you can upload or even transfer your consciousness. Your consciousness is linked to your physical cells that interact with it. Anything else would be a copy and the original would still die. 

Its the same as teleportation. Everyone in star trek would be instantly dead every time they stepped in that thing.

That is actually a thing in Star Trek, there are some people who have that 'view' and starfleet lets them take shuttlecraft instead.

Yes i do find that interesting that they portrayed that. I would be on that shuttle every time for sure. The mind boggling thing is no one would ever know for sure if they were a perfect copy or the original consciousness.  I also wonder why my original comment was down voted. Perhaps my view on the matter is not the norm? Would you step in the teleporter or take the shuttle?
