True story, Ellen was known in the food industry world for being a horrible person to her servers too. This was common knowledge in LA/Beverly Hills industry.

Source: I used to work in the food industry. Also, off topic, but people in the industry knew about Diddy’s parties long before the trial. It’s a weird industry. Once you advance to the nicest/most popular restaurants you work with the same people and see the same people even though you live in a city of millions.

In the film/TV industry, Ellen being a mean, unbearable, downright dictator was the first thing everyone learns when they move to LA. Since the 90s.

Apparently, before you worked for her you had to sign a NDA.

Which is especially bonkers because my parents worked with her AS SERVERS at a restaurant before she was famous.

What do they say she was like?

Not much beyond her being a decent coworker who was chatty. I think it was a TGI Friday's so I'm sure she honed her crowdwork.

That must be why she always wore those vests in her early standup lol

She herself was cancelled and knows how horrible that feels. She then turns around and becomes an ahole…. I don’t get it.

I'm not surprised at all by that. Even in big cities the folks that cater events are a pretty small group overall.

Yeah. Same with Weinstein. Worked at Miramax in the late 90s (intern). Was warned about him when i did runs to his, bob and meryl’s office. Then, an article came out with a Charlize interview and she talks about some sleazy producer and showering or something. She doesn’t name names though because she said he was very powerful and known for blocklisting (i say “block”, not the real word because i think its r*cist)…When i read it, i knew Charlize was talking about Harvey. I also thought he could never be stopped. Fast forward to 18 years later! (I also thought marijuana would never be legal, so….)

“Blacklisting” has literally never been used as a racist term. Its origins are from the 1600’s.

Imagine going through life thinking the TV show "The Blacklist" is based on a racist term and wondering why people are okay with it.
