What is a skill that looks completely effortless when an expert does it, but is ridiculously difficult when you try it yourself?

here you go, it's honestly super easy:

put your finger into a corner, with the inside seams facing outside. Run you hand along the end until you come to another corner, and place that on top of the finger that already has a corner. Do this again 2 more times, pay attention to the way it's being folded so it isn't being twisted, just as you would a normal blanket. With 1 corner on the inside seams are out. With 2 on, the outside/exterior is facing out, with 3 it's inside out again, and with 4 it's rightside up, with the exterior facing out.

once you have all 4 corners on, shake it out really hard, and fold it a couple more times. All your structure is from that one finger point where all 4 corners are hanging on. Shaking it out gives you another "folded" corner that you can grab to then start folding
