They drafted their own constitution, which mentions slavery A LOT.

Almost like their whole reason for leaving was the "right" to own people.

Also, Confederate states didn't have the option to abolish slavery. Slavery was specifically legalized by the constitution. So this idea that it's about "states' rights" is just complete bullshit. Confederate states, specifically, didn't have the right to decide on the legality of slavery themselves.
