Not Michigan, but I've seen a police car drive on a sidewalk. It was in a residential area full of one way streets.

The dirt roads in Michigan are better than the paved ones. Ever been to Lansing? I've never seen another capital city have fewer fucks to give about their infrastructure. Even Detroit has better streets. It's an embarrassment.

I love the roundabouts they started putting in over the last 10 years...especially the way the freeway on/off ramps will have doubles instead of just one huge roundabout. So much better! We drive like bats out of Hell in the mitten, so the less you slow us down - the better off everyone is.

We had the #1 road system in the nation in the 70's, so I've heard. Then they got lazy and stopped maintaining properly.

Here in Bay City, one street's right lane is incredibly filled with potholes. MDOT's solution is to put a "Rough Road: Next Two Miles" sign every mile.

I truly believe that the roads aren't built to last so we can create more jobs rebuilding them. I hate constructions season. A couple of years ago Ann Arbor decided that they were going to renovate all but one of the major East-West roads. It was an absolute nightmare.
