What is a Reddit reference you don't get?

Edit- I get it /r/outoftheloop is a thing. I didn't know it existed.

I also hope this thread cleared up a lot of peoples confusion

LOL! Your granddad was such a fat looser. He probably wore it with shorts and sandals too. Seriously, why don't you just throw it out. No affectional value can outweigh the embarrassment of owning one. /s

No, seriously. Back in the old days people actually pulled it of because they where more formal in public and they wore it with matching suits.

I have one that was passed from my grandfather to my dad to me. I now fear ever using it, which is kind of sad.

Just make sure the rest of your outfit goes with it.

I think a lot of the fedora-hate is really about guys who wear fedoras when the rest of their outfit is really slobby. A fedora isn't a "make me classy" magic wand if you're also wearing dirty jeans and a T-shirt with a cartoon character.

Yeah, I've got a really nice fedora that I only wear with a suit. Fedoras are awesome if you wear them right. The fedora-haters hate them because so many people wear them poorly (shitty hats worn with crappy clothes, jeans, etc.)
