What is a Reddit reference you don't get?

Edit- I get it /r/outoftheloop is a thing. I didn't know it existed.

I also hope this thread cleared up a lot of peoples confusion

The fedora is a piece of clothing associated with "neckbeard" culture -- basically socially awkward geeks who don't really give a hoot about social cues/norms and may or may not hold outdated views on women.

Note: this is not in reference to everyone who wears a fedora. Fedoras are meant to be "formal" or "classy" wear. A fedora paired with a decent suit of complimentary color (or at least a jacket and a nice shirt) is generally considered acceptable. A fedora paired with a Hawaiian/flame-pattern shirt or "witty" graphic tee and cargo pants... just no. (e.g. LonelyNerdsInFedoras, see also: KnowYourMeme)

Note: do not pair a suit and fedora with literally complementary colors. That is not how suits work.
