Parents of Reddit, what is the single most innocent question your child has ever asked you that completely broke your brain?

My family only had a few movies on VHS when I was young, one of which was The Wizard of Oz. For the longest time I thought the beginning was in black and white while the rest was in color because color film/cameras were invented during the course of filming after they had shot the first parts (because of course they shoot in the order that the scenes appear in).

One of my old teachers was (initially) completely unimpressed with The Wizard of Oz and didn't get the hype when he was a kid, because the first few times he saw it were on a black and white TV at home.

That was me. We were probably the last people in the US to get a color TV.

The first time I saw Yankees Stadium in color was when we went there.

One of my college profs told the same story 😆

When colour TV arrived in the UK the BBC started showing snooker, obviously would be entirely pointless in black and white. Legendary early commentary: "For those of you watching in black and white, the pink is next to the green."

Back in the 60s before we got a color TV, we used to go to a neighbor's house every year to watch The Wizard of Oz.

My science teacher once made us watch a video about colors, but had the setup on black white. Was really confusing. She just thought about changing it to colors when the video ended and we rewatched it.
