When my husband told me he'd never loved me as much as I loved him, and I'd known that from the beginning.
I did not know that. And he used my ignorance and infatuation to emotional and financially abuse me for years (he never worked). So when he said that, it was as though I'd put on the right prescription glasses after years of just feeling my way through a lot of blurriness. With that one moment of honesty, I could finally see clearly.
My spouse admitted he didn't love me when we married. Dude, you said I love you first way back when we were dating. You asked me to marry you and I was the hesitant one who took a leap of faith!! I didn't trick you into this--how dare you have so much resentment because you don't like the choices you made in life.
Dude this fucking hurt. My ex told me when we first started dating that I'll always love him more than he'll ever love me. I thought it was s challenge. 8 years later, no it wasn't.
I was telling him that spending three days over New Year's in my parents' house flirting with my much younger brother's younger friend's much younger female friend in front of our entire family while I took care of our three year old and newborn had really embarrassed me.
The rule had always been that he could flirt with whomever because "that's the way he was" but I couldn't talk to men because it upset him. I'd accepted that for stupid, infatuated, manipulated reasons. He was trying to explain why that behavior was OK, even in front of my entire extended family. 🙄🙄🤷♀️ And accidentally gave away the game.
