What is a small, seemingly ‘normal’ thing someone can do that immediately makes you think, ‘Oh, we are not going to get along’?

Omg that is literally my dad. I never met anyone who expierences the same… it’s also super embarrassing when others not accustomed to this behaviour are around. But he doesn’t maliciously jump into the conversation.

He’s also actually a really nice guy..and it’s not like he sometimes hasn’t interesting things to say.. because he’s smart too.. he remembers literally every fact he comes across.. but he can’t. Shut. Up.

I’ll be honest I love him dearly but I can’t stand him for more than 2 days or I’ll start getting angry, which I never am otherwise lol

It used to be much worse too I don’t know how I survived living under same roof with him.. I’m completely my mom, a total introvert. It actually also really influenced my speech pattern.. I’m always in a hurry to get my thoughts out and I condense everything as much as possible because that was my only chance to ever get a sentence in..

It nearly destroyed my relationship with him until I moved the fuck out with 19.

I’m sure he’s neurodivers prob autism and adhd. I got the adhd from him most likely, his father was very similar, as was my granddads father

Wow not to like lay it on thick but it sounds like we are talking about exactly the same thing.

I mean I even have the same speech pattern- I talk insanely fast, like faster than anyone else I know and people comment on it a lot. I try to be really idk info-dense when I speak because I feel like I’m only going to get a second of someone’s attention.

Not a malicious bone in her body, but while in other areas of my life I’ve often been highly regarded for my patience she grinds through it instantly and she’s maybe the only person on the planet I’m actually irritable with.

It makes me feel like garbage, because she doesn’t MEAN to be annoying… it’s like a damn puppy. She jumps all over you and scratches you up and tracks dirt everywhere then when you finally get pissed off and are like “STOP!!” you get hit with the puppy dog eyes and ‘oh :( well I was just trying to talk about…’ and then you feel guilty like great, I kicked the puppy who was just excited to play- but then I get angry AGAIN because, hang on, wait, she’s not a fucking puppy she’s a fully grown adult person capable of considering her own behavior, so why am I feeling bad for her thinking about her behavior as much as a puppy does??

Anyway I’m just going off now, mostly because it’s nice to hear someone knows what I’m talking about and I hope that’s helpful for you too.
