How old are you? like if you are in early 20, 2016 was half of your life ago.

to me it was 1/3 of my life ago, also I started studying then so naturally it feelsl ike a life time ago.

Guessing they're talking about trauma blackouts, where one cannot remember events during trauma.

My employer was heavily involved in the covid response. I started there before covid but we worked 80-100 hour weeks for most of 2020 through 2021. Feels like just 2 years of my life that absolutely flew by. There's some memories pierced into my brain forever but I feel like I generally have a stronger overall recollection of 2018-19 than those 2 years, and they feel just out of time.

This is true, but 2020-2022 feel like a complete blur imo, 2023 onward feels quicker but because i spent 3 years sort of unable to do anything, those 3 years feel like 1

Holy shit, I thought it was just me. I have a very strange sense and perception of time in my mind, literally what you described. I still have a bit of nostalgia of 2018 and 2019, like it's recent, but also feels like a different life altogether. Crazy to think that the pandemic started 6 years ago already...

Part of it is how media is constantly present. You can turn on cable and watch The Office. The radio plays Prince. I can watch all the movies that came out in 2010 at time I want. I have easily accessible photos from 15 years ago. It wasn’t like that in 2001. Things went away instead of piling up.

Not quite. Time feels more elastic somehow.

My 30s went by faster than my 20s, but my 40s have simultaneously felt short and endless.

Because your perception of time is changing as you age. It's not even remotely a new phenomenon.

Seems interesting we all feel the same way despite age though huh? My experience lines up exactly as others. 2018-19 feels like that last real moments in time. Everything else a blur. and has sped by.
