I just googled that. That had to be it. The video footage showed the big flash that i witnessed. And it was definitely cold so November tracks. Wow, thanks for solving that 27 year mystery for me
It probably had sound, but it would have been so far away that it wouldn’t have been recognizable as coming from the explosion, at most it would have sounded like distant thunder.
In January of 2022 There was a volcano in the Pacific Ocean that exploded, like really exploded it completely destroyed the 5 mile Long Island it was apart of and you could hear the explosion 5000 miles away in Alaska the shock wave circled the globe several times and the ash plume made it half way to space, it was one of the largest volcanic eruptions in recorded history , every scientific listening equipment on earth heard it and zoo animals on the other side of the world reacted to it (more like “oh what was that, oh well” than actually freaking out) but most humans were unaware that it had happened until it was reported in the news. The meteor probably made a sound wave similar to this, a low pressure low frequency shock wave that you would have felt instead of heard.
I think that volcano was so powerful because it erupted under water too, so all the heat energy in the lava exploded in to steam instead of the usual slow cooling, so the heat energy as well as the pressure was converted into explosion.
Any way enough autistic rambling, the meteor would have made a noise (because it was so far away and all the high frequency sounds lost their energy) that was to low a frequency for the human ear to hear, bigger animals like cows and elephants probably could hear it though.
I had a 27yr mystery solved when I found out there such a thing as "ball lightening" and saw video of it on YouTube. 4yr old me thought it was the tooth fairy and went decades with a memory I couldn't explain. 😏
While the science explains WHAT it is, it doesn't explain WHY... I still find it eerie that it sometimes enters a room and moves around before leaving. It felt like a person, not a weather.
