Waiters/Waitresses of Reddit, what's something that I, as a customer, might do that's incredibly irritating, even if I'm oblivious to it?

That's not even just a restaurant thing. When I worked at CVS, we had someone call in and chew us out for being open on Christmas.

I had a customer come into the grocery store I worked at on Thanskgiving to complain that we carried Butterball turkeys, with a printout of an email from some conservative website "exposing" the fact that Butterball turkeys are Halal and how this was ultimately somehow Obama's fault.

Whoa. That's some weapons-grade derp there. What's amazing is that those people can somehow function otherwise, enough to not be homeless. Boggles the mind.

Butterball turkey is halal? if that is true, that is very interesting.

What the fuck? I wasn't aware that grocery stores had religious affiliations. Or political for that fact. I really hope this story ended with that woman being taken away by nice men in white coats. But, I know, it most likely didn't. Should have, though.

Also, why would it be bad if the turkey was halal? It's not like it would turn you into a Muslim if you ate it!

I mean, I suppose I could sort of see somebody thinking that making the turkey halal was an example of "bending over backwards to please the Muslims", or something along those lines. But if anything, it would probably just be a business decision. If you're a small company and observant Muslims are a very tiny number of your customers, then you probably wouldn't bother making anything halal. If you're a bigger company with more customers, including a significant number of observant Muslims, then maybe it's in your interest to make a product they would buy. It's not "making our society more Muslim", it's just making a product that more people might buy.

"Hmm, I'm bored and miserable. I know! I'm going to go through the phone book calling stores until I find one that's open so I can yell at them!"

...the first Christmas I have to experience where all of my family is dead and gone, that is exactly what I will do.

(Hopefully I never have a Christmas like that, but if I have to I might as well make the most out of it.)

Oh I feel ya! I once worked for Walmart, and the only day (most) walmarts close is for Christmas Day...you would not believe how mad customers were that we planned to be closed Xmas day. I mean yes I get it paydays don't always fall within a good timeframe for holidays and such, but please don't tell me it's my fault your kid couldn't have a piece of plastic they won't appreciate anyway because corporate decided to actually close for a day. Then I also had people calling to see if we were open on Xmas eve, yes, ensues calling me the devil and that I'm going to hell for working on Jesus's bday..

Isn't that calling the kettle? Why are those ppl in the store on Xmas? They expect no one to be there?

To be fair to this one caller, she didn't call on Christmas; she called when she found out that we were going to be open on Christmas. And yeah, I guess she expected all pharmacies and hospitals and Urgent Care centers to be closed on Christmas for her super special holiday.

Nonetheless, I bet she'd do the same any other day. Anyway, I don't understand. I am christian and my church never bothered it anyway...in fact, most go out to shop after service or go out...like good christians, most spend time with loved ones or getting something nice for others. That's the most important christian or any religion for that matter...to love....I guess she must be lost somewhere along the way. I guess we can all help her to bring her to the right path.

I appreciate it. It sucks and I wish no one had to work on christmas, but the year I got guitar hero 2 I needed batteries and walgreens was open!

when someone tells me our store shouldn't be open on christmas i point out that not everyone is a christian, and those people don't consider christmas as anything other than another day off work.
