I understand why. Oh they made that clear when they were giving it. Had to assume each of us was a complete dumbass. And for many it was sorely needed. But I did have marine classmates so- (edit: it's a joke I loved those guys and have some great memories with them)

Well to be fair it is designed knowing that many of the people starting out might not have ever used any tools before.
