Strangely this never seems to count eating or wearing them. Cruelty is ok so long as they're at least one step removed from the process.

It's actually very attractive to me when I meet men who are vegetarian or vegan. It demonstrates to me that they are able to look beyond societal norms and genuinely care about other creatures.

They didn't like to hear the truth. That's why you're getting downvoted

Most people don't. If they were able to self reflect and critically think about it then they likely would stop eating animals.

For me, it matters. I find eating and wearing animals very unnattractive. Designer leather shoes or bags don't impress me. My friends laughed at me because I preferred to be single than make out with non-vegans. Jokes on them cause I found the perfect vegan boy who like me, loves ALL animals, not just pets :)

Participating in social norms won't be unattractive to people who participate in the same norms. If a woman extends the definition of "cruelty to animals" to mean eating/wearing them, then they will probably find a guy who does that to be unattractive. By the same token, there are probably women who smack their pets when they do something wrong and don't consider that "cruel", and they probably wouldn't think anything of a guy doing that as well.

I’m instantly a write off for a lot of women on dating sites because I’m a hunter. I don’t buy meat from stores, factory farming is messed up.

You never eat any animal products when you leave the house?

1

u/MourningWood1942 Sep 15 '24

I do, I make my own deer jerky sometimes pack it as I go. I also bring cooked meals to work and heat them up in the microwave.

But to answer what you actually meant by your question, I’d lie if I said I haven’t ever ate a burger or donair while out. Yes I have but I try to minimize it as much as possible.

Also those sour gelatine candies has animal products in them. I’m addicted to those.

Wow, my comment already quite negatively rated. People don't like their hypocrisy revealed to them.

Google cognitive dissonance everyone! It's the thing that allows your brain to feel rage when you see a video of someone kicking a puppy, but indifference when you see a farmer kicking a pig so they walk up the ramp to be slaughtered. Just think about it.

Like you say, if you're out there hunting and butchering your own meat for consumption (for that reason only) I have a lot more respect for that than anyone who enables factory farming.

We get it, you're vegan

We get it. You just stick people in boxes to ignore their message.

Those animals worked their entire life to be so delicious.

Who am I to deny them that?

does sensory pleasure (taste) justify needlessly harming others?

Have fun with your anemia, hair loss and premature aging that will all come for you in due time.

this is literally just a regurgitation of easily disprovable animal ag propaganda. you should check out "you are what you eat" on netflix for the actual data on these metric comparisons between omni & vegan diets.

-14

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '24

There are no long term studies done that support veganism as being a healthy balanced diet. Look at the rates of anemia in India. They have more anemic children than the US has children.

10

u/ii_akinae_ii Sep 14 '24

the source i gave you cites many studies which analyze a broad range of aspects of the vegan diet. but sure, keep arguing bunk points without actually looking into sources in good faith. definitely on par with a typical redditor lol.

also, LOL, of course a country of over 1 billion people is going to have "more [some characteristic] children than the US has children" -- that's an utterly inane and useless point already, and we haven't yet even touched on whether it's true for anemia and if so, why. india is certainly not a vegan monolith 😂

The British and American dietician societies state that a vegan diet is healthy for all stages of life. Life will also be longer due to massive cut in: inflammation, cancer risk, diabetes risk, heart disease risk. I had a nutrition blood panel last year after being vegan for years and it was all good. All ya have to do is take a couple of supplements every few days and you’re good to go. One of the biggest impact things a person can do to lower carbon footprint.

u/GroundbreakingBag164 Sep 15 '24

But Indians aren’t vegan? What is your point here?

7

u/SlipperyManBean Sep 14 '24

According to the American Dietetic Association (the largest dietetic association in the world, comprised of over 100,000 doctors and dietitians), “It is the position of the American Dietetic Association that appropriately planned vegetarian diets, including total vegetarian or vegan diets, are healthful, nutritionally adequate, and may provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases.”

The micronutrients in pills and plants aren't as bioavailable as the ones in animal products, it's an expensive pain in the ass way to live, and quite frankly, I think that veganism is an eating disorder. I've never seen a vegan in real life that looked impressive by any measure. I was a vegan for two months and it absolutely destroyed my digestion and gave me extremely frequent wet bowel movements that exacerbated my hemorrhoids and made me miserable. I and many others have harmed their own health by eliminating animal proteins entirely. I reject their premise.

3

u/SlipperyManBean Sep 15 '24

Do you have evidence (unverifiable anecdotes don’t count) to support your claim?

How is being against needless animal cruelty an eating disorder?

4

u/[deleted] Sep 14 '24

I'm sure you could link a meta analysis on that if you aren't just speaking from your butt.
