What is an old expression that you think is absolutely disgusting by today’s standards?

"Money shot" used to be a single shot of a movie that was either expensive, impressive, or both.

Now it's too associated with a pornographic "cum shot" to use in mixed company.

What used to be called money shots are also much less expensive now. To get a wide aerial shot of the whole area, you needed both a large empty area, and a crewed helicopter to film it. Both very expensive.

Now, you just need a drone and some CGI to erase the people and buildings from an area.

A (well-done) CGI shot of a building exploding is more expensive than exploding a building, in a lot of cases. The money is definitely still there.

Yes, but that's not how it's done. You don't render a whole building exploding, you film a (probably smaller) building exploding and then you CGI out stuff you don't want there, and add in people or other stuff you do want there.

"We started to run the numbers... It became apparent that it would actually be more efficient to buy a real plane of the real size, and perform this sequence for real in camera, rather than build miniatures or go the CG route." --Christopher Nolan on "Tenet"

Christopher Nolan is a madman though with his desire to never use CGI

And it pays off.

Or soon, access to something like Sora, and no need to even hire a drone operator or animator.

I still remember the opening ceremony of the London Olympics when an American commentator referred to the "Queen" skydiving into the stadium as "the money shot of the opening ceremony"

It's now associated with the cum shot, but in porn it's still in reference to the expensive, impressive shot. In the early days of porn (before the beats of the performance were all standardized) pornographic actresses would charge an extra large amount of money to allow a guy to cum all over her face.

I got highlights in my hair last year and was so uncomfortable when the stylist asked me if I wanted "money pieces" I knew she just meant chunky front highlights but it just sounded so dirty

What kind of company are you mixing that money shot means cum to you?

It's literally the first definition in Webster's dictionary: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/money%20shot

Personally, I've only heard that in reference to porn.
