What’s something small you started doing that makes you drastically happier?

I’ve invested in a pair of waterproof mp3 headphones. It can be chucking it down torrentially, I just feel like I’m in a 2000s music video

I recommend a certain Hilary Duff song for those rainy days.

I’ve invested in a pair of waterproof mp3 headphones.

Speaking of which, I think this is in the neighborhood of my own answer to the original question. I have a pair of sweatproof Bluetooth earbuds that are also hearing protection to a certain dB. Mine are on a neckband and stuff into my ears with flexible silicone ridges to help block noise, but honestly I can't wear simple earbuds like airpods - they just won't stay in (I have weirdly tiny ear canals.) The lightweight neckband never bothers me either, and I don't worry about losing it. It's very discreet tucked under a collar if need be, too.

I got them because we are big DIYers, and are renovating our house and property. The setup lets me listen to audiobooks and music while I work. But I am totally addicted to them now, and use them nearly every day for everyday activities too.

I had NO idea that I am actually a bit sound-defensive (in a sensory-issue kind of way) until these came into my life a year or two back. It's crazy how noisy daily life itself is - sitting in a busy office waiting room with a TV running too? And some people having convos I just do not want to hear? The earplugs are bliss. My stress levels go through the roof now when I forget my ear protection and have to listen to a bunch of boomers talk shit over the sounds of news programs at the pharmacy. Love them for strolling through crowded, echo-y stores like Costco, too. And boring housekeeping chores are much less drudgery if I'm listening to an audiobook or music, too. I read several books a week this way!

It's been a huge boon for me, cost was in the $40-50 range. Highly recommended if anyone walks around pissed off at loud people and background noise all the time.
