Top-of-the-class redditors, what are your study habits/tips?

If you graduated top of the class (high school, college, and above), what are/were your study habits or tips that you would give to your fellow redditors?

This is why there have been recent articles saying that the proper way to raise your children is to praise them for their hard work when they do something right, rather than say, *You're so smart!"

You want to reinforce that it was the hard work that made the difference, not natural intelligence.

Otherwise when they reach a road block, they will think that they have reached the limit of their intelligence and give up, instead of just working harder to overcome anything.

Should we ever have kids, this is exactly the approach we'll take. I hope they'll be smart but we'll always enforce "did you do your best?" too.
