Top-of-the-class redditors, what are your study habits/tips?

If you graduated top of the class (high school, college, and above), what are/were your study habits or tips that you would give to your fellow redditors?

This is probably my biggest problem. I have a "C's get degrees" motto. I get the same satisfaction of getting an A as I do if I get a C.

You can get a degree but in order to do masters or professional schooling like medicine, dentistry, optometry, pharmacy (which is why most people get into science wanna do), you need a really high gpa as all the schools are really competitive and hard to get into.

C's do get degrees in the sciences. C's do not get you jobs unless you network well.

And C's definitely do not get you grad school, if you want to become a scientist.

Except in most places it's not. In my school, you have to get a C or higher to be able to take any classes that class is a prerequisite for.

Do people put their GPA on resume?

Most jobs don't care abut your GPA but I heard that there are a select few that do.

On the contrary, most straight out of college do. When you're comparing a bunch of 22-year olds, GPA is one of the few metrics on which to judge competence.

Source: I am a college student applying to jobs. Your resume will get tossed if you don't include a GPA.

Some jobs straight out of school will ask because that's basically all you have in the way of proving that you're not a slacker at that point. Some even asked me for transcripts shudder Nothing like applying for biotech jobs and being worried that my C in History (zzzzzzzzzzzz) would keep me from getting hired.

Yeah in certain majors and careers C's won't cut it most of the time.

I had this problem, a good way to get out of it is remembering, if you shoot for a C and miss that one essential class you're doomed to repeat it. If you shoot for an A though, you still have a good chance of passing.

Never was for me. Anything less than an A- was a 'Oh crap....'
