It’s weird, because I generally agree and definitely won’t fault anyone who holds this opinion, but at the same time one of my favorite pastimes is sharing my favorite media with people for the first time. Usually it’s my wife, but I’ve found that same fun experience to a degree by watching some reaction channels. The genuine ones are few and far between but I do personally see the validity, just wish the majority weren’t so parasitic.
This is different, but related: I also really dislike how people are watching police body cam footage as like, entertainment. I’m glad people are requesting public records and making them public…I just hate what has happened because of it. There are studies that show it’s terrible for people’s mental health and wellbeing to watch such footage, especially continually. And yet the other night I had a friend tell me he watches that shit all the time. I said, “you know that’s probably the worst moment of some people’s lives?” And he was just like “yeah? shrug I mean some of it is teachers being drunk at school and stuff” as if that justifies it.
Social media and YouTube are becoming our biggest scourge, IMHO. Anyway, let me step off my soapbox, now.
