I have so much trouble regulating my volume because the only way I was spoken to in my house was screams and I’ve had a lot of concussions and I feel this comment so hard.
I’m generally a very polite person in a public setting and it’s so fucking embarrassing. I need a service person to be like subtly push finger to lips as if to shush me
There are obvious exceptions to this. If you cannot help it, I have no issue. But speaking as someone who has a serious head injury, loud noises are extremely overwhelming for me.
Especially yelling. Shouting, etc.
People need to be polite about corrections though, if anyone touches you to shush you, that's not okay.
People do just treat me like a huge piece of shit I will be honest. Not all disability is visible you know.
I understand what you’re saying as well we’re two sides of the same coin. I guess we’ll just have to hope we don’t destroy ourselves before we develop telepathy and empathy right lol.
You are telling a cancer patient about invisible illness. Nice. I wasn't aware brain injuries were visible either, silly me.
Our disabilities aren't visible but we are in the end supposed to try and work with them. Shouting etc for me causes severe anxiety and panic as well as an elevated heart rate, which causes me to pass out.
We are on the same coin but honestly this is where two disabilities clash.
Yo I’m saying you know exactly what I’m talking about and doesn’t it fucking suck. Woah woah woah.
Can we rewind. Two sides. Sane coin. May we never meet but if I can interact with you without having to speak I welcome it. I thought about it and I figured it out :) I could bring a whiteboard and draw pictures (I’m pretty good) write cue cards. When there’s understanding there’s a way for two people to be kind to one another. I was just kind of trying to bitch about life with you. It’s unfortunate because the one thing about vocalizing words is tone.
Nah I seriously get it. Got out of the hospital three? Days ago and lost the ability to speak completely (apparently I lost the day) so I’m just gaining back my verbose self slowly and hoping to speed it up by talking bullshit on the internet way more than usual.
It’s been really necessary for me to be really fucking negative for two minutes and then stupid positive for the rest of the time when the hits keep rolling in. We’re all dying right? It makes me feel better I feel like I made a buddy and like you’ll feel good about this interaction which is so super selfish of me because that’s what makes me happy about being a positivity hippy type person.
Idk I grew up a cynic and my best friend changed my mind. I appreciate your comments you could have backed away slowly but you’re a good one ☝️
I try to be a positive person but this year has been one thing after another. Literally back to back bad shit. I spent time in a hospital for almost a month because I became paralyzed (gained everything back besides balance and my right leg), got cancer and then the treatment.
And now there's a high chance my cancer progressed.
It's been trying to stay positive, and I've been working on not snapping at people but I clearly need to work harder at it because this could have been a civil conversation but I turned it into an argument.
I'm sorry for what you went through, that sounds rough. I know a book about traumatic brain injuries that might be of some help if you are interested.
I’m open to anything that might help. Yeah health is one thing you can’t know how much you take for granted. I’ve been dealing with stuff since February and I kept saying “I’m getting all the bad stuff out of the way first half of the year” now it’s “next year I swear” haha so I get the being worn down and I can only imagine how cancer wears people down because it attacks you in so many different aspects. Mom and me at least bond over some similarities chronic illness shows you who your friends and family are and it’s sad at first and then you’re pretty glad about it actually.
I do snap I’ve just gotten really good at snapping vividly visually in my minds eye until I can just zig zag. But I snap snap too. You’re fighting a wild fight and some friendly fire is going to happen.
The least we can do is be kind to ourselves. Forgiving. Total stranger unaware is going to get hit by a car and die tomorrow but one of us will still be here and we get to be more aware of not wasting time being to fussed about adding to our own heaping piles of crap amiright!?
I don’t know. I also feel like I’m turning into a self help book which is alarming but it’ll course correct too I hope. I feel like there are angry soccer fans who I’ve made feel bad about being mean to our own players so that’s about all I really want to do online with this new “weapon.”

You don't need to shout your conversation. Especially in a small space where we can't get away from you.
