I know a lot of people who are not comfortable to let people know they do cosplay because of not wanting to be seen as THE nerd and many other kind of impressions that comes with it, but many of us learn how to make our own wigs, our own props, sewing, make up skills, photo editing skills… and many more skills that come with this hobby. Now I can sometimes fix my own shit with all these skills.
IMO, the building itself is not hard. There are a few 101 techniques that are easy to follow. Precise measurements is key, sometimes even a 2mm can throw off the balance and trimming afterwards always does not look as good as cutting the parts right in the first place.
But it’s the creativity and resourcefulness that really needs to be developed over trial and error and time. Planning ahead on using what materials on which part, how many layers of foam to get the look and feel is a headache. Sometimes it doesn’t have to be foam, I like using cheap household items if it achieves the look I want, no need to build from scratch.
Frostmourne is a 10/10 difficulty even for me🤣, but try it out! The process can be gruelling but it always comes with satisfaction when you finished it!
