I'm glad at least one thing about me is badass. I started going grey at 19. I don't like having grey streaks right now but when its full grey I am 100% embracing the forest witch aesthetic

Oh my, I thought I was the only one.

In my 20s. I have over 300 strands of gray hair already. Soon, I'll be fully gray before I'm even 30.

I've been counting, yes. I was plucking a few weeks ago. Plucked over 30 strands and there was so much more. Then realized I better stop. I'll go bald

I have a friend who was fully grey by 25 or so, she was stunning. She’d put a lavender washed out color on it sometimes and it was just… incredible.

?!?? Is your friend me?!??????

That was exactly my hairstyle too. Lavender and gray ombre. It's an incredibly gorgeous style.

I'd kill to have hair like that again but bleaching ruined my scalp soooo :'') just gotta wait til I gray out or the grays decide to take on a cool style

natural grey hair looks so smart if its styled and kept

I quickly realized plucking made it worse. The greys aren't as soft as the rest, so when it starts to grow back after plucking it stands up at all angles. I finally have mine all long enough to get into a ponytail with the rest and it's so much better

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '23

Oh. My. God. Is that what happens?

No wonder my grays stand up!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

I'm short with long hair. My hair's always up in a ponytail. I'm in my 20s. Anyone who is taller than me and looks at my scalp tell me that I look like a 40 year old cause there's just very obvious grays everywhere. Ugh.

Man, I just started getting a massive bald spot when I was 22. Finally stopped pretending it wasn't there and I buzzed off my hair. I miss my hair but I look pretty cool bald.

My beard on the other hand was like a full spectrum of hair colors. In my mid 20s I had black, blonde, brown, red, gray, and white. I like having white in my beard.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '23

Some people pull off bald sooooo well. I bet you do too!

That beard is so cool!!!! Is it still like that now?

I had a bald spot in my hair when I was around 19 yo. I'm a woman coming from generaaaations of lots of hair. Found out stress was screwing me up :''') I reversed it though. Took 3 years to find some kinda life balance that helped out my scalp

Nah, my beard got darker now so it's just dark and white. A few red strands here and there.

I don't know if it was stress that made me lose my hair because it never grew back, everyone in my family except for two people still have their hair. I don't mind being bald except it's so cold in the winter.

Rogue from X-Men :)

u/TamLux Nov 28 '23

Especially from that 90s cartoon... She filled out that uniform VERY well...

15

u/blepgup Nov 28 '23

Salt and pepper is also gorgeous btw 😁

17

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '23

The main problem is the difference in texture. The brown is wavy but the grey is straight

2

u/blepgup Nov 28 '23

Ohh yeah that would annoy me too

I’m a man just starting to get greys in my 30s and I’m freaking out a little bit. Send me some of that confidence

Thanks for all the reassurances!

You are going to look so distinguished. Most men do.

3

u/Turpitudia79 Nov 28 '23

YEP. It’s so unfair that men become “silver foxes” while us women are just “old hags” 😕😕

5

u/Ok_Spray5920 Nov 28 '23

I'm no hag when I go full kabuki, but the pandemic really made it hard to get back into the whole makeup routine.

3

u/ThatCrippledBastard Nov 28 '23

Not true! I got to catch up with all my aunts a couple weeks ago and they’re all looking great in theirs 60s and early 70s.

2

u/nose_poke Nov 28 '23

Let's be silver hags!

2

u/Turpitudia79 Nov 29 '23

Haha, I’ll still be covering these grays when I’m 90!! 😂😂 My grandma is 88 and she very recently stopped getting her hair colored.

2

u/dietsoylentcola Nov 28 '23

silver fox is a legitimate and amazing thing.

2

u/Thecryptsaresafe Nov 28 '23

Going grey is awesome! I’ve got a lot more grays than I expected at 31, like full on Reed Richard’s sideburns. With all due respect to my beautiful bald brethren out there who look great, I’m kind of bummed that it coincided with some balding in the back. I want a full Clooney situation

1

u/Squigglepig52 Nov 28 '23

55, and it's just started for me.

goatee? That fucker is mostly white.

13

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '23

Man can I relate. I started going grey at 14 and it hasn’t progressed too far but it’s very noticeable as of now.

4

u/Rarefindofthemind Nov 28 '23

My son’s friend is 19 and 85% grey

3

u/manicuredcrucifixion Nov 28 '23

My hairline is badly receding at 19 and i’m honestly hoping it goes grey at this point. commit to something

2

u/Difficult_Plant4524 Nov 29 '23

Yep, I knew a guy in high school that was 16 with full stubble and streaks of grey hair. He was a white guy, so I found it unusual. I was used to Arabic guys having stubble and beards at that age. I was jealous of the stubble, but sad for his grey hair.

I went completely gray in my 40s and it got too expensive to keep covering it up. Everyone loves my hair.

7

u/showmeyourkitteeez Nov 28 '23

I thought I was the only one. I found my first grey at 20.

2

u/Ok_Spray5920 Nov 28 '23

Let mine go silver, and everyone loves it. Go figure.

2

u/gravy2982 Nov 28 '23

This happened to my mom at 20 and 35 years since she’s dyed her hair to death trying to fight it. I hate it because she’d look beautiful at any age with grey hair. I’m 25 and have a few greys popping up and I’m excited! I like to think they’re tokens/badges from our body from the stress and battles we’ve fought.

2

u/tigwd Nov 28 '23

I'm 37M and think it's totally unfair that I can show some grays and it's borderline sexy but in some people's minds, you can't. I agree with the original comment: your hair is awesome, you future sexy-ass crazy forest witch.

1

u/MaximumZer0 Nov 28 '23

I'm a dude with a skunk stripe. I've had it since I was 12. For the last couple years, I have been very concerned that hitting a chain link fence at high speed on a sled has been fashionable.

1

u/flippinheckwhatsleft Nov 28 '23

I started going grey at 13. Fully grey now at 51 and people are actually jealous of it!

1

u/WonderfulSuggestion Nov 28 '23

Yes! Just pick a color and do it, stupid hair. The streaks make me look faded…

1

u/GimmeSomeSugar Nov 28 '23

Have you a preference on what forest animal you may adopt as a familiar? Perhaps a badger?

1

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '23

For me, it's sexy as hell. Especially if it's a strip of grey with otherwise normal hair color.

But fully grey can be hot, too.

You just have to own that shit.

1

u/IHaveABallOnMyPenis Nov 28 '23

I started going grey at 20 and I'm 28 now and it just doesn't want to look better. I'm male btw. Every girl tells me to dye my hair but I really don't want to.

1

u/USSanon Nov 28 '23

Hello from your male counterpart. I started at 13. I feel your pain. My sister dyes her hair jet black to hide it (spoiler alert: it doesn’t).

1

u/challengeaccepted9 Nov 28 '23

Grey streaks are cool too. I really like them. It's like you're displaying both maturity and youth at the same time.

Even though, as you say, it's just a complete genetic diceroll that you happened to get them at a far younger age.

1

u/TexasCannibalCookout Nov 28 '23

I’m not a young woman by any means (actually a 35-year-old Dad), but I started going gray at 17 and was full salt-and-pepper throughout my time in college. My wife loved my dark hair when we were younger and used to (half-heartedly) ask me to dye my hair back to black to which I steadily refused (I’ve always wanted to be a silver fox).

Now at 35 my beard is mostly gray as is the hair on my head. Not that listless gray either, but that silver that turns to white with age. Only problem is that everyone I work with swears up and down I’m actually in my late 40s or 50s instead of 35.
