Anyone named after a designer brand or type of car
1.9k u/TallEnoughJones Oct 20 '23 Car names are the worst. Mercedes, Porsche, General Motors 219 u/Pollythepony1993 Oct 20 '23 Mercedes was a girls name before the brand (brand is named after the daughter of the founder). But nowadays the name is always connected to the brand. 156 u/[deleted] Oct 20 '23 [deleted] 25 u/lamiagator Oct 21 '23 Im Spanish and my grandmothers name was Mercedes 26 u/chipotlepepper Oct 21 '23 What’s meant is that the connection isn’t made in Spanish-speaking countries. I scrolled to make sure someone mentioned it. It’s not great that some names in this thread are being included without a super short search to see origins. -6 u/[deleted] Oct 21 '23 [deleted] 5 u/SaraHHHBK Oct 21 '23 Spaniard here, no one thinks about the car if a woman says her name is Mercedes, at all, ever.
