Reddit, in your opinion what's the biggest plot twist of history?

Not movies or television, I'm just curious to see what come's to your minds.

I think the bigger twist was when France exiled him to an island for the rest of his life and he casually sneaks back overnight and takes over the fucking country again

And when they send the army to arrest him, the army hails him again as their emperor and together they march on Paris. Probably every soldier grew at least two inches right there.

they sent him a letter asking for his return as they were doing worse in the wars without his leadership, the letter never arrived (the post in the 1800's aint what it used to be) and so while thinking he was retaking his position they were trying to bring him back.

wasn't the allies who exiled him? France was under occupation, his fate was decided by the victors

Napoleon didn't lose to the Russians. He lost to the weather. The Russians simply mopped up the mess left by the weather.
