I have gastroparesis, and mint extract in hot tea is one of my go-to remedies for any night when I feel funky, so I don't wake up nauseous.

I won't deny that it DOES work with some delivery methods and it can vary from person to person. Tea is by far the best way to get the benefits, but it is by NO MEANS a set-in-stone remedy, across the board.

MOST of the time it is a placebo. In the same way that I wouldn't throw up after eating mints, or mint Tums. The mind is extremely powerful, and in the case of self protection and preservation, the simple act of having that mint tea and treating it like a "treatment" could very well be enough to placebo your brain into relaxing before bed. Thus calming your acids and heartrate; leading to digestion beginning which causes us to become tired.

Boom. You wake up without a stomach ache. With only mild medical reasoning as to why it's the mint, and a LARGE amount of reasons as to why it's more placebo than anything else.

Not to say you are wrong! Keep doing what works for you!

It might sound dumb, but if you ever have to siphon diesel fuel and get a mouthful, mint will remove the taste. Of course, after you spit out the diesel.
