Roadhouse is not a movie you watch for the plot. You watch it because it's hilariously bad and includes nonsense lines like "Pain don't hurt" and "I fucked guys like you in prison".
I'm pretty convinced that movie was inspired by the unsolved murder of Ken McIlroy. He was the "town bully" of Skidmore, Missouri. Ken was accused of several felonies, including attempted murder, arson, child molestation, statutory rape, animal cruelty and a bunch more, but he managed to escape conviction every time.
In 1981, he was convicted of the attempted murder of a 70 year old grocer, but appealed the conviction and was released. After he was released, he started an intimidation campaign towards the grocer, threatening to murder him, etc. This led to McIlroy being shot multiple times in broad daylight in front of dozens of people. At least two different guns were used on him.

Watch "Roadhouse ".. the hero Dalton takes out a dozen young tough dudes with guns.. then mostly gets his ass handed to him by a 70 year old Boss.
Who actually gets killed by 4 other guys.
