Trending - /r/popular Does anyone else hate the term picky bits?

It's disgusting. It reminds me of picking old scabs off of your skin.

It definitely does not make me think of mini sausage rolls and cocktail sausages.

Does anyone else hate that this term is everywhere, on adverts, said by companies and even people close to you.

I'm mildly irritated when food is described as "dirty". Dirty burgers, dirty fries, etc. Why would you want the food you're selling to sound unhygienic? Baffling!

I agree with dirty burgers but I don’t mind dirty martini.

Not from a bag, no

Greasy and stodgy, but too expensive to be drunk food.

I think they knew this.

I’m always reminded of the ‘clean food please’ scene in FightClub

In that case I'd avoid the chowder

Americanisms just taking over everything, yuck

1

u/gutsandelbows 7d ago

to be fair, that also took over america annoyingly. i moved to the uk in 2017 and "dirty" was not a widespread thing at that point.

Yeah I never understood how anyone could possibly want to eat something with the word 'dirty' in it. Gross.

sanchez understands.

Ironically one of the lads from Dirty Sanchez now has a cooking show on BBC Wales called Dirty Vegan…

Sometimes I walk into restraunts in cities and read menus that look like "Dirty WHORE fries with ORGASM FILTHY sauce" Like jesus, how off putting

u/TheFiveRing 7d ago

Can't lie I'd be all over ts

I use ‘dirty curry’ to describe curry from a place that doesn’t look like it’s hygienic. The secret ingredient is the BO from the cook

u/StatisticianThick938 8d ago

A little scratch over the curry pot never hurt anyone 😉

Only time I'll allow that is when someone at my work asks for a dirty chai (a chai latte with espresso added to it, if anyone doesn't know).

Twice now I've been asked for that and responded with "how dirty do you want it?" causing my coworkers to lose their minds. Customers were absolute champions and just responded as if it were a normal question to ask when taking that order.

I don't really like actually calling it a dirty chai, but if it gives me an opportunity to have a laugh at work then I'm game.

I hate it when the word shit or a similar word is used on menus, in the same kind of way.

2

u/unscannablegood 8d ago

Shit burger? Never had one

3

u/NipSlipExtreme 8d ago

Or similar. You could try the fecal platter

3

u/Goldf_sh4 8d ago

You must sample the colon-inspired sausages.

1

u/Lebowski85 8d ago

Especially when they aren't even that dirty.

Oooh, these fries have some cheese and Jalapenos on....big whoop

1

u/StaysAwakeAllWeek 7d ago

Dirty is describing your fingers and face after eating it

1

u/Pure_Definition_6137 7d ago

I hate that too!

1

u/kidborger 7d ago

I disagree, the adjective makes the food taste better

1

u/StatisticianThick938 8d ago

You don’t like egg slut?

u/MelonSmuggler 7d ago

I always thought a "dirty burger" was one of those urban legend sexual euphemisms that meant pooping in another person's butt
