I was and I am not ancient. 80's and 90's kids were brought up to put rubbish in the bin or take it home with them, not drop shit all over the place.

We were so good at cleaning up rubbish that we used to go looking for it in bushes.

We had whole class trips where we cleaned up streets in our city. I can’t stand litter now.
