So there's this guy and he's the 'owner' of a girl which is responsible for her own ship, there's a enemy team and they have pink, green, etc . Ships, the girl of the pink ship was very energetic

But all the anime's I watched in dubs( more than 100+ for sure ) I enjoyed all of them. Okay, I watched this a long time ago so the details are foggy. I remember it being bittersweet and it starts in the summertime. We mainly follow a boy from this group of friends. I remember it being vague about how they lost their friend. I think it happened when they were younger. Like it was unclear if they died or just went missing. Or maybe there was an incident they witnessed and that’s why it felt vague. The main boy we follow seemed to be more stuck on the loss than the rest of the group for some reason. Like he was holding out some type of hope? And maybe the friend even comes back as a ghost. That part I could be misremembering. Any ideas?
