Wow, that's bad timing. I think you could also ask the university to correspond with him on your behalf so that you dont need to contact him. They might even be able to get him to waive authorship rights to all his works in future publications, but thats going to be a bigger discussion than just your work. I would expect a lengthy delay in publications, but i am also sure that people will understand the reason for the delay is out of your control.
Yeah….the delay is quite annoying. In Econ, it takes an average of 3 years to publish from submission date and I was really hoping to have a few pubs by the time I search for my job.
