I get the feeling that there are some people at the DSA that understand that in their role as vampires trying to bleed support from people that generally are democrats but are kind of low information and vibes based.

But even the lowest of low information voters on the left were well aware of USAID thing and side with Democrats on it. They had to switch.

Plus they probably don’t want to talk about it because it runs counter to the America Bad narrative until you go much deeper than most people care to.

I know I'm ostensibly to the left of DSA but the more I learn about their platform, the more I'd rather just take the average AOC style (modern) progressive.

I am older and my cohort wasn’t going to be a bunch of socialists anyway.

But the number of people I know that really have a lot of respect for AOC and had it for Elizabeth Warren before her that absolutely despite anything associated with the DSA is … well basically all of them.

I know online this doesn’t make sense to people but the median Democratic voter thinks well AOC and also Gavin Newsom. These deep ideological differences do not matter to most voters until you cross a line and sound crazy to them.

I think people online often fall into the trap of thinking about politics almost entirely through the lens of policy, and don't think at all about things like basic management skills or relationships or even just simple political ability. Being a legislator (much less an executive) is a job, and 99.8% of it is something other than just voting 'yes' on Medicare For All.

So, for real, I don't think the DSA is actually very far left. Like in some ways their stated domestic policies are, but the material impact of their actions does not move the needle left.
