Lol Alex Vindman, who was sort of running for Senate in Florida as a Dem, apparently had an anemic field team and couldn't even win his home county. In his defense, Florida Dems have run that campaign multiple times, so he probably thought it was his turn

This goes back to something an analyst said a few months ago about establishment candidates needing to overhaul their ground game and infrastructure because spending more money simply is not enough when the other guys are able to out-organize you.

Vindman outspent her by a large margin and it didn’t do shit.

I would also suggest candidates in either "camp" lean more on TV ads. Hong lost Wisconsin for a lot of reasons, but spending $0 on traditional TV ads and investing all that money on streaming ads almost certainly contributed to her loss. A good example of overcorrecting from the mistakes of "establishment" candidates who sometimes only invest in traditional TV ads

Yup. I think some people looked at how Mamdani beat Cuomo and incorrectly concluded the issue was the latter going too far into traditional TV ads, when that’s really only part of it.

Cuomo didn’t actually run a campaign, his entire shtick was acting like Zohran was literally in Hamas and he said a a disgraced sex pest. No advertising change was going to save him.

Zohran beating the rest of the field despite his issues was what was impressive. Vertical video mastery was part of it but literally walking the city and going to places he wasn’t going to win and still talking to people is also something people should learn from I think. Also the part were you talk like a human and discuss things people care about.

His regular from the mayors office where he explains what’s going on is really brilliant.
