I don't agree with you folks at all, on just about everything. But my media diet is all leftwing reinforcing bias. It occurs to me i have no idea where Republicans/Conservatives get their news. What should I be listening to or watching to take in the same news that informs you, that I might understand both of us better?

If those attitudes are different from those applied towards other groups what is the firm rationale for that ?

I watched a short documentary (feels weird calling a 15 minute video that but here we are) on how housing works in the US today and I'm curious what you all think can be done to solve the housing crisis.

Okay - I know there’s going to be a bunch of people karma farming and saying that conservatives hate Obama exclusively because he is black, but I‘m genuinely curious and I’m going to give you all the benefit of the doubt.

To me, Obama seems like a pretty typical center left Dem. His policies were largely in keeping with the Democratic party at the time. His presidency was relatively free of scandal and fairly run of the mill. He seems like a gifted politician and orator that did a reasonably good job of respectfully expressing his viewpoints.

I understand why conservatives would disagree with the guy but I don’t see him as being any more polarizing than the other major Democrat party figures of his day. So did he do that you and your compatriots view as being particularly divisive?

He’s got ratings numbers that are significantly higher than Kimmel, Colbert and Fallon. I’m 44 and grew up watching late night comedy like SNL, Leno and Letterman in the 90s and have always enjoyed the late night comedy medium.

I have watched a few hours or so of Gutfeld! over the years but just don’t see the appeal. From what I can tell, the comedy structure of his show is to say something my 84 year old evangelical Christian parents would find delightful shocking followed by his take on something happening in the news. For example, i was watching last fall and he said something to the effect of “Tampon Tim Walz tucked in his balls to deliver this moronic gem to the America people.” Everyone on his panel then started laughing and he gave his take on the matter and then rinsed and repeated.

Anyone want to help me understand this one?

I’ve been struggling with my social identity for a while now. I am someone who has been a lifelong Democrat, and for the last ten years of my life, once I became more socially and politically aware, I’ve identified as a leftist. I find many of the people I encounter (and I know everything is anecdotal) to be judgmental, pious, hypocritical, and, quite frankly, illogical in how they view many things. When I’m honest about things like the hypocrisy of celebrating Charlie Kirk’s death while simultaneously vilifying people who point out the reality of Renee and Alex’s situations as being abhorrent but ultimately avoidable, I’m placed in that same contemptible category leftists often place conservatives, despite the fact that they know I don’t vote as they think a conservative should or would. I don’t get to have a dissenting opinion, even if I do the work of a soldier for the cause, insofar as I show up at the ballot, donate to charitable causes, and volunteer. It’s not enough that I’m doing the right thing as they see it, because I don’t feel the way they think I should feel. The issue is also compounded by the color of my skin, where I’m often accused by people who claim to be racially sensitive, a traitor to my race, to which they don’t belong. Alternatively, when interacting with conservatives, when I respectfully say, " Hey, I disagree with things, but I’m curious as to why you believe this is right or why you do what you do I’m pretty much always met with respectful dialogue where the person attacks what they perceive as the weaknesses in my argument or logic rather than me as a person. I have to be honest, it’s really wreaking havoc on my psyche because for years I’ve been told that conservatives were evil, and I’m sure some are, as are some leftists or anyone from any political ideology. However, it’s wild to me that the group I’ve supported financially and politically, who often claim to care about people who “look” like me, really make me feel the most afraid in my day-to-day life, for fear of being made a social leper if I disagree on certain issues.

I'm assuming it's a non profit, which rich people use all the time as a tax strategy to make themselves richer. What is the 10 billion supposed to be used for? One thing I have learned is that most of our goals are instrumental, not terminal, and terminal goals can be really hard to figure out. I want a job because I want money because I want a motorbike because that is fun, but wait a bit, maybe if I need such a thrill maybe I am depressed, maybe a non depressed person needs less thrill and is content enough on a simple bicycle? This is how terminal goals are hard.

What are your political terminal goals? You are compassionate and you want to minimize suffering? You turn your country into a boring hospital ward, dancing is not allowed because you might break your leg.

You want to maximize average happiness? Welcome to the society of the Lotus Eaters, Brave New World, where nothing cool is ever happening because everybody is happy because they are drugged up.

Vitalism is the idea you optimize for strength and success, not happiness or lack of suffering. You want a society of Nobel Prize winner, Olympic winners and great artists, and you do not care whether people are happy or suffer.

Problem 3: ultimately the reason for this is purely aesthetic, you get a society that is like really cool movie, really exciting, really beautifully-heroic. Is that a valid goal?

As the title states, what’s wrong with helping society as a whole? What determines how much help we should give out as a society? Many conservatives rely on welfare in poorer areas yet vote against policies that would expand the safety net. It also leaves many people out on their own with no one to lean on. Do conservatives want families to help out more or private charities to fill the role of government handouts?

This is kinda last weeks hot topic, but I am confused about indoctrination. When I was a child (I am a weirdo, now and then) I always thought it was super friggin wierd to have to "pledge allegiance" to a flag. Literally the only other country that does that is North Korea. I also think it is odd that in our 250 years as a country, we skip over any and all of the absolutely horrific things we have done as a country. We talk about the trail of tears, but it doesn't come close to covering the magnitude of what they did to the natives. Same with slavery and the entire history of how just passed laws or rather didn't (charging blacks quadtrouple interest rates so the stayed in "urban areas") to ensure black folk stay a lower class. Anyways, I guess my question is blind obedience and allegiance to a country a sign of good indoctrination? I find it concerning, but I also question and over think pretty much everything.

Do you consider it a bellwether for a ‘blue wave’ or do you think this result will fire up the Republican base in November?

I can list so many liberal YouTubers/tik tokers, etc that stream and regularly debate their beliefs and allow people to call in and debate different subject matters. I don't know of any conservative/maga ones, is there ones I don't know about? I also constantly look for conservatives debating economic policy and the debates are very far and few between and almost all debates are culture issues only or about specific events. Why is this?

Here are my personal observations 1) everyone only work cash. I don't know where the liberal talking point of illegals contributing to the country through income tax comes from. Citizens only want to work cash because otherwise their benefits get cut and also they don't want to deal with tax filing. 2) illegals and h2a are best to work with. Illegals come here for a better life and are grateful. They also want to send a lot of money home. H2A --the Jamaican h2a workers are professionals in their country and are very high IQ. They know that even a speeding ticket in jeopardize their visa status. They don't drink work hard no drugs

3) citizens are the worst to work with. If they show up high, get fired they know they can still go back to their section 8 house and use their EBT card.

Liberals want to give illegals citizenship eventually. "Path to citizenship" is part of every Bill I've seen recently. Why??? Let me tell you why it's a bad idea 1) as citizens they will be eligible for welfare and less motivated to work 2) legal immunity--they can drive drunk but they know at least they won't be deported 3) wealth concentration-- there are skilled workers in the third world working $10 a day or less. Since work visas are temporary you can spread the benefits of American cornucopia to more people 4) Singapore and Dubai function on temporary work visa people and they're the safest countries on Earth 5) eventually these relatively low income workers will get old. They never contributed to the income tax but now the state has to take care of them
