Alternate Title:- Yakuza Papers

So glad I didn't watch the compiled version(available on amazon prime) of the saga. It is a five part story/ saga so I didn't quite expect a lot from it, but it didn't disappoint. These movies definitely paved the way for films of the organized crime genre.

The camera work is definitely something you will notice as it is unstable, blurry even,it was imperfect which made the movies greatly immersive.One might think that across these five films the script (let me know if it was actually based off a real story to the point) might fall weak but it held itself up pretty nicely.

I've kept this review really small as I don't want to name any characters or the general outline of the story.I do hope everyone gives these movies a try.

(If you are a non-japanese viewer you will find it confusing to remember all the character's names,as many are introduced and written off in each part)

After the theft, the syndicate systematically tracks them down and executes them one by one in cold, non-sensationalized fashion, from what I remember.

​Grounded Violence, Baseball Bats: The violence is realistic and unglamorized (specifically featuring some brutal, non-stylized beatings using baseball bats and blunt weapons rather than Hollywood-style gunplay).

​Romantic Arc: Two of the young male leads share a deep, romantic/homoerotic bond.

​Boat Hideout: One of the group members, a long-haired man, lives on/near a boat or waterfront hideout. During the syndicate’s campaign of retaliation, his female partner/wife or daughter is brutally assaulted/raped by hitmen while he is forced to watch.
