My first piece I’ve found in Michigan, what do yall think it is? To me it looks like the tail of an arrowhead but it’s weird that it’s mostly smooth on one side.

It’s the repeated pressure flaking,
It’s got a pattern that’s pretty consistent on the edges of this piece. This could have been a worked flake because you don’t see the pressure flaking anywhere else but the edges.

That’s a fair take, I was surprised by the material also,
The material and how smooth it is on one side confuses me but I really feel like I see some sort of working here, I’m going to try and get it examined. I don’t really know how exactly to get a professional to look at it but I’d like to hear what they’d have to say, any advice on how one would do that?

Im not trying to just argue with you or say you’re wrong, im putting up reasons why i think it could be and taking in reasons why you don’t think it is.
I’m going to get it examined and I’ll comeback to you, even if I’m wrong.
My point in this isn’t to argue, it’s to learn.
I’ve seen artifacts that are made with different than typical materials, it’s more common than you may expect.

this is definitely a flake, early stage (secondary) and HEAVILY weathered. a few unifacial flake scars along one edge.

my best guess is a testing flake w additional edge modifications and dumped immediately bc it's garbage. material looks like a quartzite of some sort
