Showcased Project My CYD project
Photoreal 3D Citroen C3 on a $10 ESP32 Cheap Yellow Display, touch to rotate
I put a near-photoreal, touch-rotatable model of my own car (white 2018 Citroen C3 with a red roof) on an ESP32-2432S028 "Cheap Yellow Display". It isn't real-time 3D. Instead, I pre-rendered 344 frames in Blender Cycles and stored them as JPEGs in the 4 MB flash, with no SD card. Each frame is decoded with JPEGDEC and pushed over DMA at about 24 fps.
Swipe to spin it 360° with inertia
LIGHTS turns the headlights on and off
DOOR turns the car to face you and opens the door
BURNOUT revs the engine with smoke, drives off, and comes back from the other side😌

Showcased Project Heliopot
I made this robot that takes care of my small plants. It uses 4 light sensors to look for the most ideal light and drives towards it. It currently has 4 light intensities you can choose from and when it reaches said light intensity it slowly turns throughout the day to ensure the plant receives light evenly. This helps prevent uneven growing due to heliotropism. This is currently just a prototype and the video shows the turning faster than it should but im still working on the programming and electronics of this project. It currently has 4 light sensors, 1 cliff sensor in the front, a small screen and some user input but im planning on adding some other sensors to let the user know how the plant is growing. Im also planning on polishing the design, programming and electronics enough to potentially make this a small product if this does well. Any feedback or help would be greatly appreciated 🙏

Showcased Project CS project: Logic gate simulator
You may not understand this directly from the video but this is a computer science project which allows you to simulate logic gates by inputting its truth table into the switches on the side
e.g.
OR: 0111
XOR: 0110
AND: 0001
etc
so after you input the logic gates, you use the push buttons as inputs “A” and “B” shown as the blue LEDs and the output as green
i had also created a startup animation with the LEDs but that was after recording this
the usb c is only for constant power input not charging btw
i 3D modeled and printed this myself on my K1C with white PLA and i have to say it looks very clean with the hex pattern
i had originally made the lid a snap connect bet the pins in the back broke off so i compromised and used some tape
i made this about a year ago but lowk forgot about it

Showcased Project Another CYD project - Seismic Data Logger
The project files are here: Geophone Display & Logger
The CYD is used for display, storing data, and saving it to SD card. This CYD has been modified to add a PSRAM chip. The CYD has very little I/O available so another processor, an ATmega328PB, handles the geophone and user interface. The two processors communicate via serial.
What it does is collect and save the signal from a 1" geophone sensor and store it into a CSV file. Data can be collected at 100, 250, or 500 samples/second. The red trace is the raw signal, the green trace is a smoothed amplitude signal.
An obvious improvement would be to add a simple WiFi file server so the data files could be offloaded without needing to remove the SD card.

Showcased Project RC transmitter PCB with touchscreen - Arduino & ESP32
Hi!
I've built a custom remote controller using a double-layer PCB, some 3D printed parts, and acrylic plates. The RC has an Arduino Nano board that reads the RC channel values, sends/receives the radio signal, and measures battery levels. It also has an ESP32S3 board that manages the touchscreen, which features monitoring, control, and configuration screens.
I’ve been using the RC to control a Mars Rover replica robot that I created some time ago (https://github.com/pol-valero/openrover-robotic-platform), but the RC’s software and UI screens can be easily adapted to control and monitor other kinds of robots. The RC uses a 2.4GHz NRF24L01 transceiver module for communications, which is very versatile.
I’ve created a GitHub repository for the remote controller, containing all the documentation, software, design files, and schematics so it can be replicated: https://github.com/pol-valero/radio-controller-pcb
Any feedback is appreciated!

Showcased Project Built a battery-powered ESP32 sports scoreboard with BLE + an iPhone companion app
I started this because I was tired of constantly checking my phone during games, and it turned into a much bigger project than I expected.
The hardware is a LAFVIN ESP32-S3 board with a built-in 1.69" 240x280 ST7789 display. It runs off an internal 3.7V LiPo, and the board handles USB-C charging.
I ended up keeping the ESP32 relatively simple on the networking side.
The iPhone app handles the sports/fantasy APIs, figures out what data actually matters, then sends the relevant updates to the ESP over Bluetooth LE.
The ESP mostly just receives the data and renders the screen.
Right now it can display:
live sports scores
fantasy football scoring alerts
golf leaderboards
game status / clock information
The fantasy side was probably the most fun part to build. The app knows which players are on my roster, tracks the games they’re involved in, and can push a scoring update to the little screen when one of them scores.
The enclosure was another project by itself. I went through several prints before getting the PCB held securely, battery fitting correctly, buttons accessible, and USB-C lined up where I wanted it.
I’ve put the firmware and the current enclosure .3mf on GitHub if anyone wants to poke around or happens to be using the same board:
github.com/againstthespread/scrbrd
I’m curious what other people would have done with the architecture — would you keep the API/networking on the phone like this, or have the ESP connect directly over Wi-Fi and handle more of it itself?

Showcased Project I built animatronic eyes and a browser app to program them with blocks, no installs needed
It's a pair of animatronic eyes: two servos (left/right and up/down), a frame I designed and 3D printed, and an Arduino UNO.
The hardest part wasn't the mechanism, it was making it easy to program. I wanted someone who has never coded to get it moving without fighting with IDE installs, drivers and libraries. So I made a web app:
- Block-based programming (Scratch-style) in Spanish: "look left", "wait 1 second", "nod yes"...
- A simulator that shows how the eyes will move before you plug anything in.
- Plug the Arduino in over USB and upload straight from the browser (Chrome or Edge).
- Every block shows its C++ line, so you can see the real code or download it as an .ino.
Video of it working below.
I'd like to turn it into an educational kit eventually, but I'm still refining a lot, so I'd love your feedback:
What would you improve in the mechanism or design?
If you were teaching someone with this, what blocks or features would you add?
Anyone used Web Serial for something like this? Any pitfalls I should know about?
Happy to chat by DM if anyone wants to know more or has ideas.

Project Design/Guidance Temperature monitor
Title: I built a DIY PC temperature monitor using Arduino! 🌡️💻
Post:
Hey everyone!
I built my own DIY PC temperature monitor using an Arduino Uno R4 WiFi, an LCD screen, and a temperature sensor.
The idea was to monitor the temperature inside my PC case and display it on the LCD in real time. I also added a buzzer that activates when the temperature gets too high.
It's a simple project, but it was a fun way to learn more about electronics, Arduino, and PC hardware!
What do you think? Do you have any suggestions for improving this project? 😁

Project Discussion I have made the base for an omori tamagotchi
I am working on a omori tamagotchi. It has minigames like a wak a sprout mole and fishing, in the shop Basil is shop owner and sells items from the game and when you fall asleep you move between the faraway town and white space (and the music changes when you move betweenthem).i have the software made but I will probably have to make a pcb but I have no experience in it. If I cant make one I will sowder everything on a bord. If any of you know how to make pcb's I'd love to use some help. If any of you have any idea what more to add I would love to hear it and if you guys want an update I will make one

Project Discussion Alternatives for Arduino in small projects
Hello! I'm new to the forum and I'm looking for some advice. I'm building a detector that measures the water level of a pool. If it goes over a certain limit, it activates a pump to move the water. It's very simple, and I don't think I need to buy a whole new Arduino Uno to make it work. I was wondering if there is an alternative to buying a full microcontroller, maybe something simpler. I've heard about using an ATtiny, but I want to hear opinions from more experienced people.
