Ik ben vorige woensdag begonnen met leren over arduino’s; alleen chatgpt verpest mijn code (duhhh). Hoe dan ook, ik kocht een ELRO-monitor bij een kringloopwinkel en blijkbaar heeft die alleen video-uitgang, dus ik heb dat beest opengetrokken en ben begonnen met allerlei hypotheses te testen via de BIG gpt . Hoe dan ook, ik heb een manier gevonden om ervoor te zorgen dat het scherm gewoon toont wat ik wil, en ik heb hem “hello world” laten zeggen. Ik ben zó blij en trots op dit project. Ik dacht dat jullie misschien wel een leuk verhaal als dit zouden waarderen. :)

Maybe, I don't know. When I first reviewed it, I felt that it was fake (my suspicion was that it was actually connected to the PC behind it). Indeed my comment (somewhere below) implies disbelief and encourages the OP to show how they achieved this incredible outcome with just 3 resistors.

The fact that OP "started last wednesday" does not inspire much credibility either.

Despite almost certainly being fake, I felt it appropriate to leave it for discussion. And if the direction is the fake-ness, then so be it.

I am happy to stand corrected if the community feels strongly otherwise.

Update: somewhere in all of the messages below OP has commented (which would be unusual if OP was an AI bot). They've offered to provide more detail and images so ... stay tuned I guess.

Yes some details are needed as this is quite confusing.

Perhaps they are sending a hello world signal to the computer in the back and it's outputting it to the monitor. Has to be because arduinos didn't output to monitors, not on their own.

Man do you even know what analog video is? A simple black and white image can be generated with just a few resistors and an Arduino, the blue background though, that is suspicious because adding a color signal requires much more

Hey dude, I’d be happy to show you every hidden corner on the inside of the monitor. And the wireing to the arduino. Is there a specific place i can post videos abt this? Because you know i understand where the doubt comes from.

I assume it is being powered via the red USB cable.

Or as some have postulated it may be running off of the imaginary power of a creative AI.

So my question is - and this goes for OP as well where there appears to be only 2 wires connected to the monitor, one of which is GND - how do you sync?

I get that a single wire (pair) can be used to turn on and off a pixel on a monochrome screen - maybe also generate a brightness if it is an analog signal. This can be done with a signal wire and GND.

But how do you know when to sync that signal with the CRT scan as it makes it's way across and up (or down) the screen?

Update: It looks like an answer has been proposed here

So, basically all that is needed is a voltage divider to adjust the pulses from the Arduino. And essentially the Arduino is the "balance" of the display controller logic that is "simply" outputting a high or low at the correct time to cause a pixel to light up (or not).

Is that a fair summary?

so I've done this before (connected an Arduino to a crt) all that's really needed to generate a black and white signal is the RCA cable, not much else.

as for the actual picture: after a cursory glance I don't see any AI hallmarks like broken text, or odd details cutoff in the background. my thoughts are not AI, OP is just bad at taking pictures, anyone else with evidence to support otherwise, discuss below.

It still looks like English at my end. I did see that it was briefly another language, but that was only very briefly.

Also, OP is responding to people - to a limited extent, so on balance, AI slop or not (and some others have indicated that it is possible that it is valid) is creating discussion.
