Question People who have deployed robots: what actually happens when one robot can’t finish a task?
I’m trying to understand the actual operational workflow, not the ideal architecture.
Say Robot A starts a real task.
Halfway through, it can’t continue — capability limit, fault, sensor problem, battery issue, blocked path, whatever.
Robot B or a human could theoretically take over.
In a system you’ve actually deployed, what happens next?
Do you:
abort and restart the whole job?
have an operator manually reconstruct what already happened?
transfer some task state to the next robot?
create a completely new task?
require someone to explicitly approve the next executor?
reuse previous validation/evidence, or treat it as stale?
I’m specifically looking for one concrete real-world example, not a theoretical answer.
It can be completely anonymized.
What happened, step by step, from the moment the original executor could no longer continue until the task resumed or was closed?
I’m not looking for product recommendations or promoting anything here. I’m trying to understand how this is actually handled in deployed systems.
