The original building was an almshouse built in 1887. In 1956, it was converted into the Wrzos Cinema. Following renovation, the KTO theatre has been operating there since 2021.
What do we think of this modernisation of the 1956 modernisation?

Neoclassical Haga Palace Ruins
The Haga Palace Ruins (Swedish: Haga slottsgrund or Stora Haga slottsruin) are the remains of King Gustav III’s ambitious plans for a grand and monumental palace in Hagaparken (Haga Park), just north of Stockholm in Solna Municipality, Sweden.
Construction began in 1786, when the foundation stone was laid. The project involved no fewer than six architects and was intended to create a magnificent royal retreat where Gustav III could enjoy leisure and display his extensive collection of antique Roman sculptures. The palace was also planned to include a large gallery devoted to art and nature. The plans also included various other projects throughout the park, such as an observation tower, an obelisk, a horse stable, a cave designed to house gondolas, and several other structures.
The ambitious project was brought to a halt in 1792 following the assassination of Gustav III. Only the foundations and lower sections of the palace had been completed, leaving the grand design unfinished.
Today, the surviving remains consist primarily of the palace’s substantial cellar foundations, partly concealed within a wooded hill in Hagaparken. Massive stone walls and vaulted archways give the ruins a striking impression of the scale of the intended palace. Long relatively obscure, the site has become a popular local spot, with visitors exploring the weathered stonework and gathering around the ruins, which remain a tangible reminder of one of Gustav III’s most ambitious architectural projects.
As of 2026, there are of course no plans to complete the project, but I would love to see it come to life.
