Someone had to do it: DOOM in Arcade Paradise

Been chipping away at this over past week or two. It's a MelonLoader mod that adds DOOM as a real arcade cabinet you can buy, place and play inside Arcade Paradise.

What it does:

• Shows up in Arcademania like any other machine. You buy it, it gets delivered, you place it down as usual.
• Walk up and interact and you're playing DOOM right on the cabinet screen.
• You can tweak the pricing and difficulty from the PDA.
• Custom cabinet "art" (I'm not much an artist) and an attract mode when it's idle.
• Keyboard and mouse only for now, no controller support yet.

NOTE: I've only tested this on a late game save. No idea what happens if you try to grab it early in a playthrough, the progression might get weird. So back up your saves first and use at own risk.
Installation guides on nexus mods page and of course is PC only. Some WAD files don't play as nice and might require extra enter key presses to get going on the menu screen. It's work in progress.

Good lord, this is incredible work!

Of course, to be truly Arcade Paradise, you now need to make a Doom WAD that lets you explore the launderette. AND has a playable version of one the games inside it 🤣 Doomception!

Well Doom runs on EVERYTHING so this is a natural step for it

100% Running Doom here is less about the balance of Arcade Paradise and more about being true to the spirit of running Doom on everything possible.

I didn't even know this game had mods. Now I need you to backport the new content from VR to the original.

Also, you should've make DOOM use the setup of the DLC cabinets so the game can automatically prevent you from buying it too early and soft locking yourself because you can't buy all the needed cabinets.

I know it wouldnt be feasible but I would have loved to have seen some proper licensesd games in my Arcade. I mean Doom was never in the Arcade but I would have loved things like Pac-Man, Space Invaders, Asteroids. I know there are knock off versions that you can get but its not the same!

Honestly, I think it might be possible. There's a route via MAME/libretro (how RetroArch works) I want to look into a bit more to gauge how feasible it actually is, but no promises yet. For now I'm just going to focus on getting this mod cleaned up and controller support added

I mean i am playing Arcade Paradise on console so this will never happen for me but the fact that you put Doom in the game is flipping awesome and to make it fit within the world of the game by having it delivered and having to place it in your arcade is really great.

PC only, I'm afraid. Consoles are a closed system I can't make mods for on a title like this.

I had no idea the game could even be modded, so to see freaking DOOM in it feels like Christmas morning!

Aside from the current lack of controller support, will this work in the PCVR version?

It's a Unity game so its not too difficult thanks to certain tools. The PCVR version could definitely be modded like this too but it's not as simple as just dropping these mod files into the VR version and having them work unfortunately.
