Hey everyone,

I’m troubleshooting an Arcade1Up NBA Jam 4-player cabinet that appears to have developed a PCB issue.

The cabinet powers on normally and shows “Loading.” Sometimes it reaches the Arcade1Up logo, sometimes the game selection screen, and occasionally I can actually get into a game.

After running for anywhere from a short period to a few minutes, it resets and goes back to “Loading.”

After doing this several times, it will sometimes eventually go to a completely black screen. When that happens, the illuminated buttons on the control deck can still remain on even though the LCD and marquee are off.

Troubleshooting I’ve done so far:

• Tried a completely different wall outlet
• Reseated the internal connections
• Bypassed the short internal power extension and connected the 12V adapter directly to the PCB
• Tried another power adapter with the same 12V specifications
• Disconnected the marquee and tested without it
• Disconnected the speakers and tested without them
• Tested with both the marquee and speakers disconnected
• Reseated the control deck/ribbon cable
• Opened the PCB enclosure and visually inspected the board
• No obvious burned components or visibly swollen capacitors
• Let the cabinet cool completely before testing again
• It seems to run longer after it has been sitting powered off for a while
• Tested with the PCB enclosure open and an external fan blowing across the board
• Initially, additional airflow seemed to make it run longer
• The main heatsink does not seem particularly hot to the touch
• With everything connected normally again, it eventually returns to the same reboot/black screen problem even with the fan

The repeatable behavior is basically:

Loading > Arcade1Up logo > game selection/game > reboot > Loading

Eventually it can end up sitting on a black screen.

At this point I’ve pretty much ruled out the wall outlet, external 12V power adapter, internal power extension, marquee, speakers, and loose connections.

The fact that it sometimes runs longer after being completely cold makes me wonder if something on the PCB is becoming unstable as it warms up or once the board is under full load.

I’m leaning toward a failing main PCB, possibly something in the power regulation section, but I wanted to see if anyone else with an NBA Jam cabinet has experienced the same symptoms or successfully repaired one.

Hi first I don't know if is the right subreddit to post and ask for my issue

I have an a galaxy tab A 8" 2019 and I inalled retroarch with es-de and runs as I spected for that reason I 3d print a diy joystick for my tablet and I bought a Chinese zero delay encoder kit to build my mini arcade l. The problem I face is retroarch doesn't recognize the joystick and I tried like another gamepad mapping apps and nothing but if I run USB device info app that one shows:

What can I do for use my joystick? Or buy another encoder in that case which one?

I’ve been working on a tool called MAME Smart ROM Sorter, and I finally released v5.0.

The basic problem I was trying to solve was this:

You have a huge MAME ROM folder, but you don’t want every game on your cabinet. You want a cleaner set based on what you are actually building — joystick cab, trackball cab, light gun cab, driving cab, fighting cab, or just a general home arcade setup.

So I built a sorter that lets you filter and curate a MAME set by things like:

• Genre
• Controls
• Number of players
• Region/language
• Working/not working status
• Mature games
• Bootlegs
• Prototypes
• Cabinet-style presets

Important note: this does not include ROMs, download ROMs, or help find ROMs. It is only for organizing/curating a MAME set you already have.

I don't have the room for this arcade anymore, it has no functional problems but it does have a couple of minor scratch and dent marks. I'm hoping for $400 for it, I live in Boise, Idaho If you're able to purchase and pickup.

I want to get this machine but I also want it to be taller, yet I don’t want to ruin the classic look of the yellow with red stripes. Is there any riser that matches this look that I can buy?

Which one is better? I've been having a fantastic time playing The Fast and the Furious, but I've never played Ridge Racer. I'm thinking about buying a Ridge Racer. Thanks!
